JOHN WIELAND DONATES $11,000 FROM 101 HOME EVENT SALES TO

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBs OF Middle Tennesee

Donation to Support Programs Building Character, Arts Education, and Academic Success

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee has received an $11,000 grant from John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, the Southeast’s leading name in homebuilding. With a shared dedication to building great futures, the grant will support existing Franklin/Williamson County Unit programs focused on character and leadership, arts education, and academic development.

“John Wieland Homes continues to maintain its commitment to building the community,” says Dan Jernigan, President/CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, “We are grateful for the opportunity to provide programs and services that encourage our youth to reach their full potential.”

The Franklin/Williamson County Unit plans to implement a Junior Staff program for the summer. The program is geared for Club teens ages 13 to 18. The Junior Staff program provides Club staff and volunteers with tools to guide young people in preparing for a career in Boys & Girls Clubs and/or other service professions. Through participation in Junior Staff, teens will develop interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic and a sense of community engagement while experiencing on-the-job Club work.

In all, John Wieland Homes committed to raise $101,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of America during its annual 101 Home Event, a yearly spring drive to sell 101 new homes. The total donation equals the sum of a $1000 gift for each John Wieland home sold during the event which launched in February and reached its 101 goal in April.

“This year’s event held a lot of special meaning for us.  It marks our company’s 40th year and allowed us to celebrate that by giving back to the communities in which we live and work through this partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs,” says company founder and CEO John Wieland.

In addition to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, donations will benefit local Boys & Girls Clubs in each of the markets in which John Wieland is currently building including Atlanta; Charlotte and Raleigh, NC; and Charleston, SC.

Located at 129 West Fowlkes Street, the Franklin/Williamson County Unit provides program opportunities for 395 boys and girls each year. The Club is open Monday thru Friday 7 AM to 5:30 PM the months of June and July]. Youth interested in joining the Club or learning about other programs can contact William Tucker at 615-794-4800 or visit www.bgcmt.org.
