OUR HISTORY

The Boys & Girls Club of Franklin/Williamson County, a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, opened its doors in 1989.   The Club began with only two staff members and a membership of 30 kids per day.   At that time, the club operated for youth only, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for four hours per day. At that time, the club was located in the old Franklin High School Building at 1116 Columbia Avenue.  Not only has youth participation and the staff grown, but thanks to the Williamson County Government in the year 2000 the club moved into the newly constructed Community Services Building at 129 West Fowlkes Street.

Thanks to the Met Life Foundation and the support of Darrell Waltrip, The Franklin Teen Learning Center was opened below the Optimist Club gymnasium at 1116 Columbia Avenue in November of 2001. The teen center is now housed at Academy Park.

In January 2007, the Fairview Boys & Girls Club opened its doors at 207 Hwy 96 N in Fairview. In January 2008, the Fairview Club relocated to a larger space in the Berean Baptist Church.

The continued support of Williamson County United Way, local city and county government and the residents of Williamson County have truly developed the Williamson County Club locations.  The consistent involvement of the community helps make the club programs available to over 500 youth annually.
